project 3
Rural Life-Space Assessment
Lead: Dr. Wayne Warry
Aim/Goal: This study was funded by a grant from the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health (R21AG072566). It aimed to understand how people living and aging in rural and Indigenous communities navigate their environment, and how this impacts care for people living with dementia. The term “life-space” describes the physical and social environment where a person lives and does activities on a day-to-day basis. Dyads (or pairs) including a person living with dementia and their caregiver were recruited for this study, and the caregivers completed a daily questionnaire to help us learn useful information about the behavior and locations of a person living with dementia. Qualitative interviews were also completed with the caregivers to learn more about their experiences.
Status: Data collection complete; analysis ongoing
