project 1
Socio-Cultural Factors in Rural ADRD Care and Experiences
Lead: Dr. Kristen Jacklin
Aim/Goal: This pilot project investigated the rural lived experience of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and explored how the experience changes over time. This study invited community members across northern Minnesota, including healthy older adults, health care leaders, physicians, social workers, formal caregivers, informal caregivers, people living with dementia, and community leaders to complete a qualitative interview. The information gathered through interviews helps us identify key aspects of culture and context that are important to development of appropriate rural dementia interventions and care models.
Status: Data collection complete; analyses ongoing
